All mariners who hold a license level of Officer in Charge of a Navigational Watch must comply with table A-VI/5 in the Standards for Training, Certification of Watchkeeping (STCW) Code and in A/2.1.6 of the International Ship and Port Security Code (ISPS) in order to qualify for the rating of Ship Security Officer.
(This STCW course is approved by the Dominica Maritime Administration.)

It is assumed that students who attend this course will be seafarers on active (or other personnel on board) who have chance to be appointed officers for the protection of the ship. However, it is planned no specific income requirements.
