CMET’’s mission is to provide high-quality services to mariners across the globe. CMET aims to improve the lives of mariners through education and training, both at home and at sea. Our courses, STCW approved, follow the Universal Design for Learning (UDL) guidelines in order to accommodate all styles of learning. CMET prides itself on being accessible to all learners with built-in features including audio and visual accompaniment and a fully-responsive display which allows users to access their courses anytime, anywhere on any device with internet access. CMET-Online delivers courses in English and is in process to deliver in multiple languages in order to create an optimal learning experience for each individual. Our courses feature built-in simulators, giving mariners the tools of their trade right at their fingertips. CMET-Online believes in giving mariners lifetime access to various content, as we want to give mariners the ability to refresh their knowledge and skills whenever they so choose.
CMET courses are designed to support all learning styles by providing text, audio, visual and interactive tools. Users are given lesson checks and periodical knowledge checks as they would in a typical classroom environment, better preparing them for their final assessments. All courses purchased through CMET, including their updated content, are made available for a lifetime. This allows mariners to go back into their library of courses to stay educated and knowledgeable.
Our online courses feature first-class simulators which are built in-house and emulate all the functions of real world equipment. In addition, most of our courses are supported by Online Examination System, an exam monitoring software that allows mariners to take their written exams at home using a webcam.
Centre for Maritime Education and Training (CMET) was established in order to bring Maritime education to the hinterland. Located in Lucknow about 500 kilometers from Delhi, the national capital of India and is well connected to it through air, road and rail.
CMET Lucknow was founded in 1999 by Late Mirza B Beg to impart maritime education in all parts of country. This mission and vision were carried forward by his son Captain Noor Iman Beg and his family. Captain Noor Iman Beg is an Ex-Rajendra and has sailed for more than 25 years. Apart from years of teaching experience, he also has 14 years of Command experience on different types of vessels.
In a span of almost 20 years, CMET has trained more than 25000 officers and crew for shipping industry. In 2017, CMET built two sister colleges named as HSNA Maritime Education and Research in Lucknow and HSNA Maritime Education and Research in Mumbai. Considering the demand of seafarers for pre-joining medicals, CMET also built two Medical Centres in Lucknow named as CMET Marine Medical and HSNA International Medical and Diagnostics. CMET also complies with the training recommendations of IMO, London conducting professional maritime courses.
CMET-O was originally launched in 2022 by the founders of Centre for Maritime Education and Training - Lucknow as a solution to provide quality maritime education and training online, saving mariners time and money. CMET-O is designed to bring maritime education to mariners where they are, at home or at work; using advanced learning methods, integrated simulation and an automated online exam proctoring system. CMET-O is designed to be cost-effective and most importantly, accessible on ships or from home for professional mariners to spend well-earned time off with their families in lieu of spending that time away at school. The commitment of its founders is to the service, support and rescue of mariners and seafarers. It is this commitment to mariners which provides the very foundation of CMET-O.
